We intended to spend 2 and a half days in Lagos, Portugal. But.......this city the "blackhole" was amazing! We ended up there for 4 days! First, we met some woman on the train who didnt speak English. We spoke a little spanish with her, lots of hand guestures were involved, and she showed us this book of everyone whos stayed at her house before. By the end of our 2 .5 hour train ride she has us convinced. She ended up hating us because we are slightly loud, but it was awesome to not have to share a room with anyone else. Lagos is such a cute town, and the beach is awesome...its not hot so its easy to get a sunburn. ;) We went on a tour of the grottos....and saw some interesting rocks that did not look exactly like what our Portuguese-speaking guide said they did. If you saw the picture you would laugh for about half an hour just like we did. Just for the record, scuba diving off the coast of Portugal in the Atlantic is damn cold! We had to fall off the boat backward first of all, and then landing in the ice cold water I wanted to die. Prissy had a great time, but apparently she wasnt as cold as I was. We were wearing full wet suits, with hoods and everything, and all I could think about was "I want back on the boat!" So I believe Ill be sticking to Mexico and Florida and other warm waters for diving from now on.
After our stay in Lagos that we never wanted to end we ended up skipping our trip to Madrid due to lack of time and went straight to Barcelona. We thought about taking a train, but a 32 hour ride!! So we took a plane instead, and almost missed our flight! The lady that checks the bags screwed up our checked bags and sent them back to early even though they were underweight. So then we had to pay €60 together to check a second bag...because apparently they only let you carry on 10 kilos. She was confused about that too though, even though there was definately a sign in front of the counter. Anyway, they ended up holding the flight for us and we ran across the entire airport...after getting stopped by security because they thought Prissys Chi iron was a weapon! It took about 10 minutes to explain the concept of straightening your hair to the poor guy.
Barcelona was amazing too. We went on a tour bus to see everything since we really only had a day and a half. My favorites were Park Guell and the Sangra Familia cathedral. We stayed at a hostel and went out with some of our friends from there the first night. CRAZY!! We went to an irish pub and got cheap shots, followed by ridicuouslz expensive drinks. Then someone got the ingenious idea for all 7 of us to walk all the way across the city to the beach. So we ended up on the Mediterranean at 5am next to some gay guys who were about to rip eachothers clothes off! We ended up swimming in the cold water and somehow made it back to our hostel around 7am.
So, this week has been so incredibly crazy fun...the night life in Lagos and Barcelona is the shit! I cant believe Ive been in London, Faro, Lagos, Lisbon, Barcelona, and Germany all in one week! I cant wait to get to know all our you guys tomorrow. I know that we are going to have an amazing time over here.
