Birthday Surprise

Last night at midnight my host mom surprised me with 21 fresh yellow roses, 2 beautifully decorated cakes, a fabulous wrapped present, and a birthday card. She lit a candle and sang happy birthday to me. It was the best birthday ever. So much better than last year, which was when I was sick in the emergency room. But yep so in Germany is MUCH better. I'm so happy that Karin is my host mom, she has made my trip to Germany so much better. When ever I doubt that Germany was worth coming to, I sit down with Karin and talk for hours. She is like a live in tour guide or historian of Germany. For dinner we usually have something that she says is typically German food, and every meal is like a fancy dinner. She sets everything out so perfectly with fresh flowers, beautiful napkins, and even the food is organized decoratively on the plate. My host mom is amazing. Today we are going to celebrate my birthday at her house and have some friends spend the night. My stay in Germany has been wonderful! I'm going to really miss Karin when I leave.
