This week has been amazing, but I am exhausted. The cruise down the Rhein River yesterday was a nice break and very relaxing, and I am so glad we had a wine tasting. I am still not at all used to beer, and I am not thinking I will ever acquire a taste for hops and such, but I guess we will see. Today was also interesting. Initially, I was a bit skeptical about the trip to the Experimental Farm Gut, but I found the tour very interesting and entertaining. I just wish the animals didn´t smell so much. The pigs were not nearly as bad as far as the stench is concerned, but the cows were making me gag, especially during the tid bit where we had to stare at their rears for awhile. The piglets were absolutely adorable, and I wish we could have done something to help the runt, but I guess that´s life. It was interesting to see the sperm through the microscope as well. It amazes me what they are able to do these days and that you can freeze sperm for extended periods without causing damage to the sperm.
This weekend should be fun as well. Kathy and I are going to Prague this weekend, and we will be taking the night train on the way back in couchettes (super exciting!). However, the downside is that we forgot we are leaving early Monday morning, so we are going to have to pack everything for the next week and following weekend before we leave for Prague. Luckily, Gerd offered to meet us at the Hauptbanhof with our luggage on Monday morning so that we will not have to take it all with this weekend. So sweet! Our host fam gam is really amazing. Christa and Gerd are such a cute couple, and thez worry and care about us as if we were there girls. Last night we talked for 2 hours while they showed us their pictures from their trip to Prague in 1976. I have noticed though that Germans seem to talk after dinner for extremely long periods of time, which is fine, but if we get home at 9, that means dinner will not officially end until around 11, which can be tiring. But, it's completely worth it!
