2 First Impressions

It's Friday of the first week and I'm just now having time to right my first blog. We've hardly had time to breathe in the past two days. We"ve been to museums and tours in Bonn and Koln - both of which were amazing - far too much to try to write in a blog. I know it will be hard to believe that I was standing on the scaffolding of the Dom when I am back to everyday life in College Station. We are getting so spoiled with private tours in English that I don't know how I can bare to travel without them after the program. Our host family is amazing and also spoils us with lots of wonderful food including pancakes, which are
more like crepes, with apples and ham and cheese. The food they eat here seems to be much healthier and fresher than what we're used to, although fast food is sadly starting to become more and more popular. It has been a little disappointing to see American influence here - die hard 4, celine dion, tommy hillfigger, mcdonalds everywhere - but then I guess Americans also have somewhat of an obsession with anything that claims to be European. Well tomorrow we are going to Hamburg for the weekend. It will be interesting to see how different northern Germany is from this area...
