Well its day 3 in germany and I'm feeling much better about the country. I had a few problems at the airport, which left me thinking that germany wasn't so great after all. After yesterday and today though, I've decided that I really do enjoy it here even though it is so hot. I definitely realized I take air conditioning for granted. Yesterday we did the walking tour, which was long and hot, but it helped me get an idea of where everything was and what I wanted to see and do later. The architecture here is really amazing and a mix of modern and antiquated. The Gehry buildings in the Mediahafen were fascinating...I don't know how anyone could be so creative. The Alstadt had the old architecture with old churches and breweries. Last night we watched the world cup game at this bar with hundreds of other Germans. I really wanted Germany to win because all the Germans seemed so unified in supporting their team. I thought getting back home after the game was going to be scary, but we took the easy way out and took at taxi instead of trying to figure out the bus and train system. Today was the scavenger hunt, which was really very fun even though I was tired. I'm still not on German time yet. All in all, I still can't believe I'm actually here. It's definitely a bit scary to try to get around and live in a town where I don't speak the language, even though I'm learning more and more every day. The scavenger hunt was good because we were forced to talk to the people here and I definitely have a better understanding of the public transportation. I'm starting to feel more at home here, and I can't wait for the rest of the trip!
