Duesseldorf Digest

Thoughts by Erin: Issue 2

Hey guys, I guess I will start from the beginning. Well the first thing I noticed was that in the zurich airport, they were playing the song buttons by the pussycat dolls... I was really thrown off because I thought that swiss people listen to things like yodelling . Next, when I got into duesseldorf I was also suprised as to how many bakeries there are. I mean, I know that the germans love their bread, but I didn't know that they love it for fruhstuck, mittagessend and abendessen. But the bread is amazing! Our host family lives right next to a bakery and we get fresh, real fresh, bread every morning. Also, we gave the presents , to our host family. Dirk loved the shirt I gave him of the dallas mavericks. One other thing that I noticed is that our host family is not openly welcoming. We later lerarned that it is german custom to give people their personal space and not to be offended if the germans seem "stand-offish". My roomamte Becca and I are now more understanding about their culture and are having a great time. Anyway, peace out. tschuss!

p.s. today was my birthday and the people at AIB gave me some flowers, ones that I have never seen before. I was so excited. danke AIB!
