Guten Abend!!
We just got finished with our scavenger hunt across Duesseldorf! We started off by asking young people about different beers, sausage, and cheese at our bus stop. We then made our way to the Banhof-the visitor center answered many of our questions about Duesseldorf history and we checked out train schedules to Cologn. Next, we tried to find the cheapest item at the DM drug store (.35 euro cents) and take a picture of the U.S. Embassay. Apparently even though we are AMERICAN, taking a picture of the U.S. consolate seal is forbidden and a guy who didnt even work there was adamant that we not take pictures. So we took one of our great flag anyway. Thats when it started raining. We hopped on a train and went as far as it could go, the Botanical Gardens, just to take a picture of the stop. BUT, we met two missionaries from DALLAS, TX!! And they spoke fluent German so they were helping us out on our scavenger hunt by talking with the local people. They also invited us to hang out with them at their "center". Thats when we headed to the Alstadt for some good, bitter Alt. We met some girls who spoke English as well and they showed us where Ueigie was so we could buy our beer. Once there we bought Alt took pictures then started chuggin because we had 30 minutes to head back to the AIB. I'm pretty sure I have a headache from that right now. We took pictures of us holding up the Rheinturm then booked it back to the AIB. What did I learn from this experience besides getting to know Duesseldorf better? Well, Germany is exactly like Texas weather hot and sunny during the day, then raining! Also, carry .70 euro cents with you so you can go the bathroom in public. Probably the best, Germans aren't as harsh as they are made out to be - everyone we asked were willing to help and the two girls who showed us where the bar was gave us a word for our scavenger hunt...Schnitzeljagen.
