Week 4

This week was a bit slower after getting back from Amsterdam and Norderney! On Monday we went to Remagen, and learned about an old bridge that played an integral part in WWII. We got to walk along the Rhine and it was really nice.

On Wednesday we had the aib Summer party, and it was really cool seeing all the other host families and getting to know them. I also tried tapas here for the first time and it was SO good.

On Friday we went to Bingen and Andernach. We learned about Hildegard von Bingen who was a total badass and went against the patriarchy to be a female who preached to a mixed audience. We saw the “Hilde-garten” and identified some herbs that she would’ve used in her medicinal remedies. Then we went to Andernach and saw a very detailed medical history museum with a lot of interesting artifacts, such as an iron lung!

This was a great and more relaxed week, but I’m excited for next week when we go to Vienna!

Tschüss,

Cassandra
