Week 1

We are finally finished with the first of five weeks that will be undoubtedly amazing. The week started off with classes to help familiarize ourselves with Dusseldorf and the German culture. The highlight of the week came on Wednesday with a trip to the Cologne Cathedral. If you are reading this and have never been to this cathedral and do not know much or anything about this place you should look it up on the Internet. This place is absolutely amazing. Looking at pictures just does not quite do it justice. It is huge, elaborate, and definitely one of a kind. Cologne itself is an old city with many other very interesting places and traditions. There we spent most of our day and ate lunch and walked around. With this trip being amazing, I glance over our schedule for the rest of the 4 weeks and I notice that many, many more day trips and over-night trips are coming up. Needless to say, I am excited. The week ended with an interesting and informative lecture given by R. Zinnikus over the 20th century in Germany and the Nazi rise and WWII ramifications. I'm looking forward to this weekend with a trip to a very old German city, Cologne fireworks show, and Amsterdam.
