"Haben Sie ein 'bottle opener'?"

Well I am here in Germany now, and it has been a blast so far.  The first couple days I was a little intimidated by the fact that it is a completely different country and continent, not to mention a different language.  Despite that, the people here have proven to be extremely friendly, regardless of whether they speak English or not.  Our host family is awesome, we live at a sports complex the family runs, as well as the bar/restaurant/beer garden that is at the complex as well.  They weren't around much the first weekend because they also had to work their catering job that weekend as well.  Even though, our rooms are nice and the family is very friendly and eager to know about Texas when we are there.  We have already had a few trips to the Altstadt, including one that lasted until 6 in the morning.  Needless to say, that was a great night.  So far though I feel that I am getting a great view of German culture from our family and talking to the various people at the bar each night.  It's a great culture and mindset, and while different than ours in Texas, I feel that the more time we spend here and with the people, we'll start to identify more and more with it, to the point where we feel like we have become a part of it.
