happy new years! last night was very eventful. very very. we went down to the brandenburger gate last night to join in the Berlin Silvester 2008 celebration. we went out there around 8 and left around 230. the green beer, berliner vasser (?), was pretty good, it had a completely different flavor...there were so many people out there last night it was insane. im glad that no one was separated from the group because we would have never found them again! we got a really good view of the fireworks, and i cant remember the last time i saw new years fireworks. thanks to julie and lacie... we met people from a contiki organization which had a bunch of aussies! they were pretty crazy, and the party really started after they came. after the fireworks, people started clearing out and heading home but i was surprised that when we left around 215 that there were still a lot of people near the stages opposite the moulin rouge ferris wheel.
during the day, we went to checkpoint charlie which had a line that almost hit the next block. it was very interesting to see all the different successful escapes. most of the time as i went around, i was getting goosebumps from reading the unsuccessful escapes...
