This week was definitely the busiest, yet super great at the same time. It was the first week that we travelled outside of Germany. It was AWESOME! Even though there were some rough moments, it was for the most part an amazing adventure.
For our first free weekend we visited Salzburg, Austria which is known for its salt mines - get it SALZburg, as in salt - and for The Sound of Music. While there we, of course, took the Sound of Music Bus Tour, visited the Salzburg fortress, and went paragliding. Paragliding was a lot of fun, although I was slightly scared for my life, but other than that the view was beautiful. This was one of my favorite places to visit because of its beautiful scenery and mountains. It was absolutely gorgeous, and most importantly, I never once felt like I was about to be taken.
We then traveled to Vienna where our program started up again. There we learned about the Plague and visited numerous places, my favorites being the Sigmund Freud house, the Josephinum, and the Fools Tower. I really enjoyed Vienna because of its architecture and history, and also because Dr. Wasser dressed up as a plague doctor while walking around and giving us a tour of Vienna. There were some slightly frightened people and children, but other than that it was absolutely hilarious.
After leaving Vienna we then went on to visit Prague which is located in the Czech Republic. This was our second free weekend. As we entered Prague we noticed that things were a little different here. It for sure looked a little sketchy; however, once we were there it wasn't so bad. There were a lot of interesting people there, but nothing bad ever happened. We also went to an Ice Bar! Which was super cool! We also attended the ballet Romeo and Juliet which was by far my favorite thing that we had done. After Prague we traveled for about 7-8 hours back home to Bonn, which was terrible. I'm pretty sure that after this trip I'm never going to want to be on a train again.
It's great to be back in quiet little Bonn, but we are leaving tomorrow to go to Hannover which should also be a lot of fun. So far the program has been absolutely amazing!
