1st Week Abroad

First week living in Bonn, Germany is now in the books, and it's been nothing less than amazing! The town is easy to figure out, public transportation is quite practical, and the AIB program keeps us busy! In German class, we learned how to count, and how to say the basics like "Ich heisse Robert," or "Ich spreche kein Deutsch." The German History of Medicine course is extremely interesting in context, but Dr. Wasser also brings a lot of energy to the course, which is awesome. Not only is he a human encyclopedia in the classroom, but he knows just about everything about every museum we have been to. We visited the House of History Museum, the Hildegard of Bingen Museum, and the Marksburg Castle. Out of these three, the Marksburg castle was the most beautiful, and the House of History Museum was the most educational for me because it gave an entire overview of German history from WWII to current Germany. The Marksburg castle was beautiful. It overlooked the Rhine, and the fact that it was built in the 12th century is remarkable. I won't spoil the fun, but I'll post a picture of what it looks like.

Interlaken, Switzerland had some of the best views I have ever seen. Switzerland was an amazing time. On this trip, there was a total of 7 of us, and that was a perfect amount to be adventurous throughout Interlaken. We got to kayak Lake Brienz, and we took a rail car up to Harder Kulm, which is the top of Interlaken. Here we took some photos (I attached them below), and we got to enjoy a beer with a view. 10/10 would recommend going to Interlaken, Switzerland.

Overall, the program is spectacular, and our entire group of 30 students are all getting along well. It's only been a week, but I could honestly say that I've made some friends that will last a lifetime. It's gonna be hard for this trip to get any better, but I know this is only the start. Auf Wiedersehen!
