This weekend we went to Interlaken,
Switzerland. We took three trains to finally arrive at our destination. It was
our first time experiencing the trains in Europe and it was quite an
experience. Having to figure out what trains to get on and how much time it
takes in between each train to switch was a little bit of a challenge but after
the third connection we had figured it out. We arrived around twelve that night
in Switzerland and went and explored some of the town.
On Saturday we had an eventful day
full of hiking up a mountain, white water rafting and exploring the city. We
started the day by hiking down a mountain that has 1322 meters high. The view
from the top of the mountain was amazing, the mountains and the view of the
city was beautiful. The trolley took us up to the top of the mountain and we
hiked the mountain down. This was a definite adventure! The gravity pulling you
down while you hike down a mountain makes you feel as if you should run to keep
your balance. There were a couple of falls and breaks while hiking down the
mountain but we finally made it to the end of the mountain. After conquering
the mountain climbing we went to go white water rafting. They took us in a van
for about twenty minutes before we started our rafting venture. After a
briefing and them explaining every possible worse outcome, I was a little
terrified to go down the rapids. We all pilled in the raft and rowed, got down,
went left, went right, and held on the entire way down. When we arrived at the
end of the rapids it put us into a stunning lake. I had never seen such
beautiful blue water that was so clear. Luckily none of us fell out during our
rafting experience! Later that night after our showers and relaxing for a
little while, we went and had dinner at a pub and went around exploring the
city.
On Sunday we had to check out of
our hostel since we were going to be taking an overnight train to Veinna later
that day. We stored all of luggage and went out for another adventurous day.
Our group split up and did different things this day, half of them went
skydiving and then I went paragliding. The paragliding staff picked me up
around 3:30 and took us up onto the top of a mountain. Here we got all geared
up with our parachute and harnesses. Once we were all geared up my paraglider, Thomas, attached on to me and we were ready for lift off. For take off you
start walking down this hill and then whenever he says run you have to run as
fast as you can. Then once you catch the wind, he tells you to sit down and
your flying in the air. Standing there waiting for us to take off I was pretty
scared, thinking of every bad outcome, but once we were in the air it was
amazing. He took me around the mountains and around the top of the city. The
views from that high were breathtaking! Paragliding was such an amazing
experience!
Switzerland was such a fun and exciting
place to have gotten to visit! I had so much fun exploring and getting to
experience it!
