Week 5: Hungary did not leave us hungry

This week we went to Vienna! After we left our stuff at the hotel we headed into town and were greated by Dr. Schnabel, a plauge doctor. He lead us on an incredible tour of Vienna and even showed us different treatments the plauge doctors used to treat the plague.

Next we went to the Goulash Museum to try goulash. I got the traditional goulash and it was shocking how good it was. At first the fried egg mixed with the meat seemed a little scary to eat, but I am really glad I didn’t think too much about it and tried it. The next day we visited the Josephinum. It is a museum which houses several anatomical wax figures. It was amazing to see how preserved they still today. Next, we went to the crypt under St. Micheal’s Church. In the crypt they had true mummified bodies. It was interesting to see that some of their clothing was still in fairly good condition. Later in the trip we also went to Fool’s tower where they used to keep psych patients, and then also saw a concert at St. Anna’s Church. We also visited the Natural History Museum which has an a large collection of jewels. Lastly, before we left, we visited the Freud House and Dr. Wasser gave us a great lecture there.

For the weekend Deniz and I visited Budapest and Prague. For both experiences we decided to do something relaxing. When we were in Budapest we visited the thermal spa and when we were in Prague we have a foot pedicure by fish. Both cities were so beautiful and we sadly did not get to see enough of them.
