Once we arrived in Prague, Sir Toby’s greeted us with
everything we wanted to hear. Definitely the friendliest and most helpful
hostel so far, even though it is only the second one. Free BBQ for dinner was
exactly what we needed. We got to know a few of the workers and other people
staying at the hostel, while we ate and drank at the pub downstairs. I decided
to stay in with Meredith, Sarah, Alexis, Katharine, and Caleb. We settled into
our room and watched a movie until we fell asleep.
The next morning we went on a walking tour of Prague
provided by the hostel. The tour guide did a great job of incorporating history
and modern events. We were able to see the famous clock in the square at noon.
Our tour guide warned us a lot of the tourists are disappointed when they visit
the astronomical clock so we didn’t have high expectations. However, it is
still a cool attraction. The clock can be read in many different ways, too. Walking through Prague, you could notice a difference between the cities we had visited before. Though it is considered a "westernized" eastern city, it was still different from Bonn and even Vienna. The city felt older and worn down, but it did not take away from its beauty. We ended our walking tour at the Charles Bridge.
Before we went across the Charles Bridge to the castle, we
had lunch at a traditional Czech restaurant. I decided to get a chicken burger,
though it did not look like chicken. Once we reached the castle, we had a more
enjoyable time. After climbing up many stairs, we were able to get some great
pictures at the top!
