Weekend 5 - Praha

Friday we took a five hour train to Prague! Once we arrived and navigated ourselves to our hostel, we checked in and hung out for the night. It was one of the nicer hostels I've stayed in.

Saturday we woke up bright and early only to discover that it was raining. Nonetheless, we took it upon ourselves to explore the city. We walked around through the rain, pointed out landmarks that we found interesting (whether we knew what they were or not), and did a little souvenir shopping. We saw the Astronomical Clock, which was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the only one still working. We also walked across the Charles Bridge and took pictures.

We eventually had lunch at a cafe called U Costella, where I had parmesan tortellini. Afterwards, we walked around a little more then went to the mall close to our hostel to do a little shopping at H&M. We intended to go back to the hostel after to relax for a little bit, but ended up taking a three hour nap. After that, we got dressed up and met some others from our group at a popular night club and hung out there for the rest of the night.

Sunday we slept in a little then had lunch at the Bohemia Bagel, which was very good. I had a chicken sandwich that had guacamole on it, and this made me miss mexican food so much. Afterwards we did a free walking tour around the city. It took three hours and was very interesting. We walked to many of the same places we went to the day before on our own, but this time we found out what they were and their significance to Prague. Our tour guide was really funny and knew a lot of interesting historical stories about the different buildings and monuments.

Afterwards we grabbed dinner at a bakery before going out for the night. Monday morning we took an early train to meet up with the program in Berlin.
