Cobblestone Roads and Rolling Suitcases Don't Mix

We arrived in Prague on July 29th for our last free weekend. After exchanging euros/dollars to Czech crowns (we felt like millionaires with 1000 bills in our hands!) we made our way into Prague. After one insanely long escalator and trudging through the streets with our bags, we arrived at our hostel. As far as hostels go, this one seemed safe with a security code to check in. However, our six person room was through the door of another room...

The next morning we decided to walk through the city. Rain and cold were nothing new to us, so the rainy weather couldn't stop us. We made our way to the main square with the Astronomical Clock. We witnessed the famous but overrated hourly production and keep making our way through Prague. The souvenior shops occupied most of our time. From the sparkling crystal to the replicas of the Astronomical clock, we were captivated by all the things we could buy. After a walk across the bridge and resting at a Starbucks and restaurant, we made our way back to the hostel for a well deserved nap.

After our rest, we got ready for a night out. We had been hearing all about a club called Mecca and couldn't wait to go. We arrived at Mecca around midnight after two subway rides. The club was pretty empty but we knew the party didn't start until a little later. Once later arrived, the club was still empty. Not knowing what to do, we left to try a local place that had been suggested. Since dancing in a big black hole wasn't my idea of safe, we went back to Mecca in hopes of finding it more populated. Despite hearing that the previous night it had been packed, that Saturday night just wasn't the night to be at Mecca. We called a cab and made it back to the hostel. The next day we discovered that the 5 floor club we had wanted to go to had been close to our hostel...

Sunday consisted of taking a walking tour of the city. I wish I could remember something I had learned but all I remember is being tired of walking around in the rain. That evening I went on a ghost tour of Prague. I learned all about eerie stories of star-crossed lovers, revenge of the dead, and the famous story of Golem with several scares along the way. The following morning we set out for our last stop of the program, Berlin.
