Hannover and Vienna
The study abroad trip met back up in Hannover at
the end of the free weekend. Hannover
was a quiet city compared to the previous ones that we had visited. We visited the zoo and got to hear about the
many things that a zoo vet does. Their
breeding program for their elephants is world renowned with a total of five
live births in one year. Being an animal
science major with a background in large animals, the behind the scenes of how
the zoo works was pretty neat to see. A
few days after arriving in Hannover, we were off to Vienna on a plane with the
whole group. In Vienna, we went to a
church that had basically a cemetery underneath its floors. People buried/ cremated here were victims
from the plague, whose bodies needed to be disposed of. We later on went to Café Demel for cake and
coffee, which was very good and much needed since the day was so cold. The last day in Vienna, we started out at the
Spanish Riding School. While I thought it was pretty neat, the rest of the
group did not seem to enjoy it very much.
It would have been really cool to see them perform. After a lunch break, the last museum of the
trip was the Museum of Natural History. Growing up as a huge fan of dinosaurs, this
museum was pretty cool! The bittersweet ending to the day/ trip was our farewell
dinner. This group of friends was a
group that I would not trade anything for.
Spending three weeks in a foreign country with these guys was an
experience that I will remember forever.
