Goodbye America, and Hallo Deutschland

The day has finally come, I am leaving for Germany Today! I am only a nine and a half hour plane ride away from the experience of a lifetime. In preparation for my trip today I have spent the last week making sure I have everything I need while abroad. I have over thought almost every detail there is to over think, and hopefully I am not bringing too much. I will definitely need most of it, right?

I love traveling and seeing new places, which initially drew my attention to a study abroad. Once I researched my options I decided on the history of medicine in Europe trip for a variety of reasons. First, I think learning about the differences between medicine in Europe and the United States will be very eye opening to me. Another reason I wanted to go is due to the fact that I had the opportunity to travel to Germany with my family when I was younger and I have wanted to go back ever since. Lastly, I have never traveled to another country with a group my age and I can't wait to start getting to know everyone on the trip.

My expectations for this trip are very high, how couldn't they be? I am getting to tour a beautiful country and learn about different cultures! There will be a few hours studying here and there I am sure, but I know it will be worth it. I hope that by seeing how the medical field works in Europe, I will be able to better understand the society as a whole.
I have gone through several emotions while getting ready for this trip; excitement, nervousness, and anticipation. Excited to see famous places, nervous about not knowing much German, and anticipated for meeting my host family. All I can do now is get excited for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have been blessed by my parents and grandparents to get to go on this trip, and I can't wait for what is in store!

Gig' Em and God Bless,
Morgan Schultz
