Amsterdam in 48 hrs

Friday night we were brave. A group of 8 of us girls headed to Amsterdam with no clue what to expect. We stayed at Bob's youth hostel (kind of a shady place, but it was cheap & a good experience) and before we even checked in we were greeted by groups of boys outside the building smoking a J. We were definitely in Amsterdam alright.

We went out to this little tapas bar the first night and on the way home i was approached by this older man that asked where i was from, i totally panicked and said "mexico!!" when he asked what city i said "guatemala" (with a flawless spanish accent i might add) and he totally believed me, then continued to say "usted es mas bella que Amsterdam" (you are more beautiful than amsterdam" so honestly it didn't even matter what happened the rest of the weekend that was the nicest compliment i had gotten and it made my day! Amsterdam is crazy beautiful.

Me, Jess and Katherine woke up early saturday and followed Jess' Rick Steve's walking tour and it was amazing. We went through all this historic sites including this little hidden church and Bijenkorf (this woman's community where the ladies live in poverty to live by the word of Christ). Just walking around it was so odd that we were only a 3hr ride away from Bonn but Amsterdam has a totally different culture. Everyone was really nice that we spoke to and even invited us to different bars to hang out while watching the netherlands game! Netherlands won after all and the town went crazy. Amsterdam was insane at night, like think Northgate after we beat bama in bama, but times 10!

It was a great trip overall. Quite a new experience. Something that you can only see or experience while in Amsterdam.
